Acupuncture for Pain
Live pain free!
Acupuncture is a “no-brainer” for treating painful conditions successfully. Acute pain, injury, or accidents can oftentimes cause long-term issues if not addressed properly. Conventional treatments for chronic pain often fall short and come with unpleasant side effects.
Acupuncture is a safe, natural, and remarkably effective treatment for pain — be it muscles, nerves, or joints: low back pain, knee pain, neck pain, or pain related to internal disorders like autoimmune conditions or fibromyalgia.
What The Research Says:
Chronic Pain: A review of data on nearly 18,000 patients showed “firm evidence supporting acupuncture for the treatment of chronic pain.”
Neck Pain: Acupuncture is more effective than medication for treatment of neck pain due to disc herniations.
Low Back Pain: The American College of Physicians strongly recommends acupuncture to treat low back pain.
Carpal Tunnel: MRI imaging shows acupuncture provides lasting relief for carpal tunnel syndrome.
Nerve Pain: A 2015 study showed acupuncture having a 70% cure rate for trigeminal neuralgia, as opposed to a 55% cure rate with the medication carbamazepine, with fewer side effects.
What is Acupuncture Anyway?
Acupuncture uses hair-thin, sterile, single use needles in order to:
Improve circulation
Enhancing generation of nitric oxide increasing blood flow to areas of pain.
Release muscle tension
Stimulating and breaking up bands of bound muscle fibers called trigger points
Relieve pain
Producing endorphins, your body’s natural opioid-like peptides.
Activate the parasympathetic nervous system
Resets the body’s “rest and digest” state in which healing can occur.
How long will it take?
Generally acupuncture will bring notable relief within the first two weeks of treatment.
Once you are out of pain, we focus on resolving the underlying cause of the pain at its root. The treatment course will vary depending on the intensity of the pain and how long you’ve had it.
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine is not a quick fix like a pain pill that offers a temporary band-aid, but rather, a restoration of health.
Our goal is to not only get you pain free as soon as possible, but to resolve the issue so that you can maintain results with minimal ongoing intervention.
Does it hurt? What are the side effects?
Acupuncture is relatively painless, and the most common negative side effect is bruising or soreness on rare occasions. Because of how acupuncture works on the whole system, patients often report improvements in many other symptoms in addition to the main complaint that is bringing them in. Some common “side effects” of acupuncture are:
Improved sleep and digestion
Pain relief at multiple sites of the body
Reduced stress and greater emotional balance
How do I know it will work?
No sort of medicine or treatment is guaranteed, but we have seen enough patients (40,000+) that we have a good idea how the vast majority of cases will respond to treatment.
If we don’t think we can help, we will tell you that. If we can help, we will construct a comprehensive treatment plan based on your condition and your needs.
